James Navan is a pianist and vocalist based in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Queens but growing up in Florida, his love of playing jazz eventually brought him back to The Big Apple in 2015. As a pianist, James has performed all over the world with well known groups such as The Glenn Miller Orchestra and others. He has also worked with esteemed NYC jazz artists Andy Fusco, Joe Magnarelli, and Tom Wopat, to name a few, playing at venues like Smalls Jazz Club, Minton's Harlem, and Feinstein's 54 Below.
James earned his B.M. in jazz piano from the University of Central Florida and his M.M. from Queens College CUNY, where he was the recipient of the Sir Roland Hannah Award, a distinction granted to one outstanding pianist each year.
A few years ago, James discovered that he had a hidden love for singing. As a vocalist, he draws from a wide repertoire, ranging all the way from swing era songs sung by Nat King Cole and Doris Day, to pop classics of the 60's and 70's. You can catch him singing for swing dancers with his band “James and The Jaywalkers”, or behind the piano crooning at Eddie V's Restaurant in Paramus, NJ most Wednesday nights!
